Daughter of the Moon
Once Upon a Time, There Was a Mermaid
Once upon a time, there was a Mermaid.
She had beautiful curly hair and a turquoise tail decorated with flowers and pearls.
As always, she swam with the current of the sea. Sometimes she would pass a beautiful pearl shell or a ray of light without even noticing it.
Something inside her seemed to be longing for something else.
But she didn't know what it was.
She couldn't explain it to herself, and she couldn't explain it to anyone else.
One day, the water was shining and sparkling in the sunlight. The Mermaid sat down on a rock near the shore.
Suddenly, she heard a loud and frightening roar.
It was a deep, painful sound that seemed to shake her whole body.
Grey clouds of smoke came rushing towards her.
The smoke stopped just a short distance away.
The Mermaid froze.
She couldn't say a word.
Then the creature spoke.
“I am the Roar of Darkness.
This is the first time you have seen me, but we have met many times before.
Ever since you were seven years old, I have visited you again and again — as sudden waves of fear in your heart.”
“Yes!” said the Mermaid.
“You are that frightening moment that makes me freeze, puts me to sleep, and takes away my spark of life.”
“This time I have come because the time has come for me to take you under my power,” said the Roar of Darkness.
“You still have one month.”
And just as suddenly as he had appeared, he disappeared into the clouds of grey smoke.
The Mermaid sat there, frozen with fear.
Tears rolled down her trembling cheeks.
Her skin became pale and grey.
And there, on the rock, she fell asleep.
That same night, she had a dream.
A bright and beautiful being came to her.
She spoke gently:
“Hello, my daughter.
I am Mother Moon.
For many lifetimes, you have wandered through the mist, sometimes lost and unsure of the path in front of you.
I have been watching you.
I have been with you all this time.
I see what is happening.
The Roar of Darkness wants to take you under his power.
But he does not know something.
You have been chosen to save yourself and your underwater kingdom from the sudden attacks of darkness.
Because what you fear is often only something you cannot yet see.
Something you have not yet been able to see with the eyes of truth.
You have been given time.
And during this time, you have three tasks to complete.
First: Save the baby fish who are trapped in the four directions, throughout the oceans.
Second: Create a Winter Garden — a place where it is warm and green all year round.
And third: When the darkness comes, stay calm in the moment of fear.
I give you this pearl comb.
Whenever you comb your hair with it, you will receive the strength and wisdom you need to complete your tasks.”
Suddenly, there was a flash of light.
The Mermaid woke up.
She felt a huge wave of strength moving through her.
Her heart felt open.
She knew what she had to do.
She simply had to keep swimming and complete her tasks before the time was over.
The first task was not easy.
She had to find the four directions where the baby fish were trapped in the kingdom of darkness.
With the help of the pearl comb, she gathered Divine wisdom.
She focused her love.
She found the place where the little fish were trapped.
She melted the bars and set them free.
The baby fish swam back to their mothers.
For the second task, she used everything she knew about growing plants.
She also asked the hardworking dolphins to help her.
Together, they created the Winter Garden.
It was a beautiful pyramid surrounded by crystal glass.
Inside, there were many different plants.
It was built over warm springs, so it stayed warm and green throughout the year.
It became a place of healing for the creatures of the sea.
Then came the third task.
At first, it seemed as if she would not have to do anything.
Because suddenly, the Roar of Darkness returned.
He came with the same powerful, storm-like feeling.
The Mermaid gathered herself.
She knew what to do.
She took the pearl comb and began to comb her curly hair.
As she combed, her heart slowly became calm.
The Roar of Darkness spoke to her:
“The time has come.
Come with me!”
But in that very moment, something changed.
The Mermaid began to shine.
Light came from her body.
It was strong, bright and almost blinding.
And suddenly, everything became clear.
From inside the Roar of Darkness, a tiny creature appeared.
It was a little baby fish.
He was grey and trembling.
The Mermaid gently picked him up and held him close to her heart.
At that very moment, a deep and indescribable warmth filled the little creature.
Surrounded by light, he rose up into the sky.
It was one of the most extraordinary experiences of the Mermaid's life.
That same night, Mother Moon came to visit her again.
“You have done something very important for the underwater kingdom and for the greater good of All That Is.
The happy and love-filled creatures of the oceans, seas and waters are deeply grateful to you.
You, Mermaid, are the Moon.
You are the Daughter of the Moon.
And now I give you the Key of Enlightenment.”
Mother Moon reached under her cloak and took out a shell.
She opened it.
Inside was a key with a small pendant shaped and coloured like the Moon.
“This is for you,” she said.
“I give it to you so that you can learn to step back and observe your own reactions and expressions.
So that you can enjoy this life.
So that you can be present here and now.
There will be other Roars.
But this time, you will know what they are.
And you will know how to heal them.
Because you will understand that even inside darkness, there can be something innocent and Divine.
Something that can be born again.
Something that can shine.
Even the Roar of Darkness was only a little boy who had lost his way.
And through you, he was able to experience his true self.
Thank you, Mermaid.
That was your third task.
And you completed it with all your heart.”
“Thank you, Mother Moon,” said the Mermaid.
Her eyes were shining.
She felt as if she had been born again.
As if she had finally awakened from a very deep sleep.
The next morning, the Mermaid woke up with a new feeling inside her.
She wanted to create.
She wanted to give.
She wanted to share.
And so she began to swim again.
Peacefully.
Towards new and joyful adventures in this underwater world.
Through darkness and light.
Above and below.
Everywhere.
Always.
